While Vancouver and Toronto are traditionally the top two favorites for Chinese buyers, there’s a new competitor that is nabbing much Chinese investor interest – Calgary, the largest city in Alberta. Chinese inquiries for Alberta properties on Juwai.com have surged 70%. And Hainan Airlines has recently launched a new direct air link between Beijing and Calgary due to demand. Some of the momentum is due to a new 15% foreign buyer tax imposed in British Columbia, which is designed to slow down the run away home prices blamed on Chinese purchases.
Calgary is on the rise for Chinese buyers.
