Americans who are deciding on a city to relocate to and want to minimize the cost of housing should take into account property tax rates. According to Rocket Mortgage Hawaii has the cheapest residential tax rates (although the high home prices offset that benefit), Alabama is in second place, and Colorado is the 3rd lowest. The highest property tax costs are in New Jersey, with Illinois second and New Hampshire in third place – all states with net outflows of residents. Arizona is a respectable twelfth on the list of the lowest property tax states.
